Exercise #868: Self Knowledge
Posted 9/18/20

I heard “American Honey” by Lady A yesterday in the car. One of the lines is “Free as a weed.”

I’m not sure why that resonated with me but it sure did. So today, tell us ... are you free?

You may write an essay, show us a scene depicting your answer or write a story about freedom.

As always, you can choose to have a character do this exercise instead.

Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Could you relate to this piece? Why or why not?

 Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #868/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: In some cases “free” is a relative term. I once heard that we don’t own our belongings, we are owned by them. Examining your freedom (or lack of) can be enlightening.
