Exercise #597: Word Play

Find something that isn’t quite “normal” in your everyday life and explain it. This can be either why it has that name (why do we call our dog “Boo” when his name is Hunter?), or why you do something that way (did you hear the one about why the woman cut off the ends of the ham?).

I consider this word play because if you use the pet name for something, or the shorthand name for something, it is! (Why do we ask for a “Rots” when we want a V8?)

Critiquers, you might choose to answer these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Could you relate to the piece? Why or why not?
