Exercise #41: Craft
Posted 2/2/04

Sensory impressions are important to any scene. Without them, the writing is lifeless. What use to be in mother's kitchen if you can't smell dinner cooking?

Use one of the following sentences, and build it into a small setting. Use the senses, where appropriate, and show us the place. Help us hear, smell, and see the walk. Use any POV, word choice, and gender of character. (i.e., "I walked" could also be "he wandered" or "she strolled.")

I walked through a grocery store.
I walked along the beach.
I walked down a jungle path.
I walked along a city street.
I walked across my dad's farm.

Note the smaller word limit for this exercise. Make those words count!
