Exercise #112

Exercise #112: Self Knowledge
Posted 6/17/05

What are your defining moments? We all have them. That six-year-old birthday party in the park where it rained; the day you moved out of your folks' house; marriage, the birth or death of children; buying the first car, house, boat, pet.

If doing this exercise for yourself, list five defining moments. For each, tell us something about it. What did you learn? How did you feel? Would you do it again?

If doing this exercise as a character, choose one such defining moment and show it happening to your character.

Word limit: 500 for your own piece, 1200 for a character piece
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #112/yourname

Defining moments happen every day. Sometimes the choice is our own, and sometimes the choice is someone else's. How we react to those moments is what shapes who we are.
